OTTOMAN PALEOGRAPHY l – II

Ottoman Calligraphy and Paleography I is targeted on building the capacity to read, transcribe, and translate printed Ottoman texts primarily from 19th-20th century.

This amount obtains 160 hours of instruction (7 days: classes plus training hours).

Demands: Intermediate Turkish is necessary for participating the Ottoman Calligraphy and Paleography I.

  1. OTTOMAN CALLIGRAPHY AND PALEOGRAPHY ll

In Ottoman Calligraphy and Paleography II lessons we shall concentrate on reading printed and handwritten Ottoman documents such as archives, newspapers, chronicals and etc. There is aditional reading materials as a result of interest of pupils relating to their particular industry of study. The lessons will start with common handwriting design called Rik’a and can continue steadily to read other handwriting types including Celi, Sülüs, Divani.

This degree gets 154 hours (7 days) : (guidelines, practice hours and studying inside State Archives of Ottoman Empire during the program.

Requirements: at the very least Intermediate Turkish and reading printed papers are expected for participating the Ottoman Calligraphy and Paleography II.

OPTIONAL LANGUAGE CLASSES

Contemporary Turkish, Uyghur Language, Karamanli Turkish (This language lessons receive 70 hours (7 weeks).
