The real history of Civil Engineering division coincides thereupon of YILDIZ SPECIALIZED UNIVERSITY (YTU) and it's also the next oldest municipal manufacturing division in chicken. YTU began knowledge in 1911 under the title of "Konduktor Mekteb-i Alisi", the establishment continued as "Nafia Fen Mektebi" after 1923, and its own name was altered to Istanbul Specialized class in 1937, to Istanbul State Academy of Engineering and Architecture in 1969, to YILDIZ UNIVERSITY in 1982 and lastly to YILDIZ SPECIALIZED UNIVERSITY in 1992. 1450 undergraduate and 270 graduate students are currently enrolled in the division.
The Civil Engineering Department features seven divisions: Structural Engineering, Hydraulics, transport, Geotechnics, Engineering Mechanics, Construction control, and architectural products. Undergraduate researches are executed in 2 individual programs, 1st between 8.00 a.m.-3.50 p.m., the second between 4.00 p.m. and 10.50 p.m. on weekdays, and 9.00 a.m. - 12.50 a.m. on saturdays. The division conducts M.Sc and Ph.D programs in the Institute of Science and tech (School of scholar Studies) in aspects of Structural Engineering, Hydraulics, Coastal and Harbor Engineering, Geotechnics, transport and Engineering Mechanics.
There are six laboratories, supporting, training tasks for undergraduate pupils and generally are used for carrying out experimental works associated with the M.Sc. and Ph.D. pupils on the research activities.
